This is Sheila, our senior queen, who moved to Rocky Ford with us from Arvada, Colorado and began the Xi-Gua lines. Her name is the Irish form of Cecilia, a third-century saint and martyr who is considered the patron saint of musicians. Sheila's traditional-style heart-shaped face and sweet temperament have been evident in all her offspring. Sheila is the mother of our former queens Fiona and Fancy, our former stud Turlough O Carolan, and our current queen Scarlett O'Hara. Sheila is a seal point carrying blue factors and produces kittens of both colors.

Deirdre is named for the tragic 2nd-century Irish legendary heroine. She comes to us from Thai-Di Cattery in Denver, Colorado. Thai-Di breeds modern or show-style Siamese registered with CFA, as well as traditional Siamese registered with TICA as Thai cats. Deirdre is a modern Siamese who has recently been made available to us as a breeding queen. She is a very striking seal point carrying blue factors and will produce kittens of both colors. Her litter brother, a beautiful blue point shown on the right, came with her to have a home with us, so we have called him Naoise (pronounced NISH), after the original Deirdre's murdered lover.
(Ja Mar Kits Fionnuala of Xi-Gua)

|
Nuala, whose name means "white shoulders", comes from Ja Mar Kits Siamese near Houston, Texas. Nuala is a classic blue point carrying chocolate factors and produces kittens of all four colors. Many of her kittens have turned out to have her distinctive wide-set large eyes and high cheekbones.
(Permes Elizabeth of Xi-Gua)

Ealasaid's call name is a translation of Elizabeth ("God is my oath") into Gaelic. She comes to us from Permes Cattery in Poulsbo, Washington. A traditional seal point with stunning dark blue eyes, Ealasaid carries blue and chocolate factors and produces kittens of all four colors. She also carries the recessive long-haired factors and can produce long-haired kittens if her mate carries the same genes.
(Xi-Gua Eithne Carberry)

Eithne is the daughter of Conn and Nuala. She is named for the 20th century Irish poet and author Eithne Carberry, wife of historian Seamus McManus, though the name Eithne, meaning "kernel", has also been borne by several Irish saints, mostly notably the mother of St. Columba (Colum Cille). A traditional Siamese with some classic features, Eithne can produce kittens of either style. She has an outgoing and affectionate personality and is very friendly. Eithne is a seal point carrying blue and chocolate factors and produces kittens of all four colors. On the left, she is relaxing with her blue point friend Dawn.
(Xi-Gua Una Donn)

Seen here relaxing with one of her first kittens, Una, whose name means " brown lamb" ("Lamb" in Gaelic is actually "uan", but this variant is often seen in Ireland), is a seal point daughter of Declan and Fancy. Her modern chocolate point father has given her a very light-colored silky coat and deep blue eyes. Like her brother, Red Hugh, she is a classic type, producing mostly classic kittens. Una carries both blue and chocolate factors and produces kittens of all four colors.
(Xi-Gua Scarlett O'Hara)
![]() | ![]() |
Scarlett is the daughter of Sheila and Conn, with her mother's heart-shaped face and turned-up nose, and her father's wide forehead and dark blue eyes. She is quite timid around humans and other cats as a consequence of vaccine damage in kittenhood, so she lives most of the time with her mate Finn, or in Catriona's bedroom. Scarlett has a sweet and mild temperament (unlike her namesake in "Gone With the Wind") and which she passes to her kittens. She is a seal point carrying blue factors and produces kittens of both colors.
(Larami's Moira of Xi-Gua)
![]() | ![]() |
Moira, along with her brother Finn McCool, comes to us from Larami Siamese in British Columbia. Her name is an English rendering of the pronunciation given to Maire, the Irish form of Mary, in the south of Ireland. She is a traditional chocolate point carrying blue factors and produces kittens of all four colors.
(Xi-Gua Eileen)
![]() | ![]() |
Eileen is the daughter of Fiona and Red Hugh. Her name is an English rendering of the Irish name Eibhleann, meaning "radiant", "pleasant". Eileen is a classic silver-toned blue point carrying chocolate factors and can produce kittens of all four colors.
(Nepashequah Kateri of Xi-Gua)
![]() | ![]() |
Kateri is named for Kateri Tekakwitha, a 17th-century Mohawk woman who is expected to be declared the first Native American Catholic saint. She comes to us from Nepashequah Siamese in Indiana. Nepashequah is a Miyaami (Miami) word meaning "green willows". Kateri is a beautiful long-haired Siamese (also called Balinese) and will produce long-haired kittens when bred to our long-haired stud Colum Cille. She is a seal point carrying blue and will produce kittens of both colors.
Guest Queens
(Bowles Miss Fiona of Xi-Gua)
Miss Fiona is a lovely traditional blue point. Her sire is from well-known traditional Siamese breeder Cann-Dee-Apples in New Hampshire. She carries chocolate factors and produces kittens of all four colors. In addition, she carries the recessive long-haired Siamese (also called Balinese) factors and can produce long-haired kittens if her mate carries the same factors. She is the mother of our younger lilac stud, Colum, who may be seen playing with his mother's tail in one of these pictures. Miss Fiona lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado with her owner Gail Jones, but comes to us from time to time to be bred to one of our studs.
Former Queens
(Xi-Gua Fiona Hutsell)

Fiona, born in June 2008, is the daughter of Sheila and Ryan. She is a traditional Siamese with some classic features, producing kittens of either type. Her kittens by Conn turned out to be extremely traditional. Fiona is a seal point carrying blue factors, like her mother, and produced kittens of both colors. During her breeding career, she gave us 33 beautiful kittens. We kept two of her daughters, blue points Bronagh and Eileen, for breeding. Fiona was retired in August 2011. She has been spayed and placed in a private home as a pet.
(Ja Mar Kits Brigid of Xi-Gua)
|
Brigid, whose name means "exalted one", is named for St. Brigid of Kildare. She comes to us from Ja Mar Kits Siamese near Houston, Texas. Ja Mar Kits specializes in classic-style Siamese, of which Brigid and her sister Nuala (above) are two beautiful examples. Brigid is a seal point carrying blue and chocolate factors and produced kittens of all four colors. Brigid is still young (born in January 2009), and has given us many beautiful kittens, but we have found that she loses too much weight when she is pregnant or nursing, so she was retired in December 2011. We kept one of her daughers, seal point Dark Rosaleen, for breeding. Brigid has been spayed and is available as a pet to the right home. She is rather timid and would do best in a home with no other female cats.

Davnet, whose name means "fawn", is named for the early Irish saint Dymphna. (Davnet is closer to the actual Gaelic pronunciation of the name.) She comes to us from Desert Rose (WildRose) Cattery in New Mexico, and is a younger sister of our late stud Ryan. Davnet is a classic seal point carrying blue and chocolate factors and produced kittens of all four colors. She was retired in December 2011, and has been spayed and placed in a private home as a pet.

Fancy, a daughter of Sheila and Conn, is a traditional blue point carrying chocolate factors. She only gave us one litter, sired by Declan in March 2010, but the kittens were of such high quality that we kept two of them, Red Hugh and his sister Una Donn, for our breeding program. Fancy has been spayed and placed in a private home as a pet.
