Shoobox Kubla Khan of Xi-Gua

This is Kubla Khan, whose call name is Conn, after the 2nd-century Irish king Conn of the Hundred Battles. Bred by Shoobox Cattery in southern California, Conn comes to us from Permes Cattery in Washington state, where his sire was bred. Both of these breeders have concentrated on breeding traditional Siamese cats with pedigrees reaching back to the first imported Siamese of the early 20th century, and Conn is a very good example of this desirable type. He is a seal point carrying blue and chocolate factors, so we can get kittens of all four Siamese colors (seal, blue, chocolate, and lilac) from him, depending on what colors his mates carry.

Koblizek Deacon Blue of Xi-Gua

This is Deacon, whose call name is Declan, after the 5th-century Irish saint Declan of Ardmore. Like our lilac queen Kylinn, he comes to us from Koblizek Siamese in Wisconsin, though the two cats are unrelated. Because he is a modern or show-style Siamese, he will produce classic kittens when mated with our traditional girls. Declan is a homozygous chocolate point and can sire seal point and chocolate point kittens.

Xi-Gua Red Hugh O Donnell

Red Hugh is named for the the 17th-century Irish hero prince of the same name. He is a classic son of Declan's out of Xi-Gua Fancy, a blue point daughter of Sheila by Conn. Hugh is a chocolate point carrying blue factors, so he can sire kittens of all four colors.

Larami's Finn McCool of Xi-Gua

Our newest addition, Finn is named for the legendary Irish hero of the 2nd-century Fenian cycle, Fionn MacCumhail. Like his sister Moira, Finn comes to us from Larami Cattery in British Columbia. He is a traditional lilac point and will sire kittens of all four colors. Carrying only recessive color factors, lilac points can be used to "bring out" any recessive colors being carried by a seal point mate, so we expect that Finn will be very valuable to our breeding program.

Former Studs

Xi-Gua Turlough O Carolan

This is Turlough, named for the early 18th-century Irish harper. Also, the Gaelic form of his name means "instigator" -- an excellent name for an active young stud! He is the son of Sheila of Xi-Gua and WildRose Ryan of Xi-Gua. His sire's elegant features and his mother's sweet personality are evident in this handsome boy. Unfortunately, Turlough proved to be a bit too much of an instigator! He was temperamentally unsuited to stud work, and miserable when shut away from his human companions, so we decided to retire him. His kittens with Nuala, born May 16th, 2010, were his last litter. Turlough has now been placed in a private home as a pet, where he will get the attention he craves.

WildRose Ryan of Xi-Gua

This is Ryan, Xi-Gua's foundation sire, who came to us from Desert Rose (WildRose) Cattery in New Mexico. Sadly, Ryan is no longer with us, but his assertive character and unique personality are missed and remembered by all who knew him. Ryan's elegant classic-style features (especially the long legs and tail inherited from his show-style dam, Thaibok SonoraRain) are evident in Turlough and Fiona, both from his final litter, and in his grandkits as well.
